Burrow to the limitation page. Ink inscription to the front free end paper. An interesting study of the promontory fortresses, hill forts, camps, and other earthworks of Somerset, covering the Romans, Saxons, Danes and Norman Conquest. Illustrated throughout, including wash and line drawings by Burrow, and a folding map of Somerset to the rear. Collated, complete. Edward J. Burrow (1869-1934) was a prodigious engraver, and also the founder of the printing and publishing firm Edward J. Burrow and Co. He published numerous travel guides, in a couple of series such as The "Borough" Guides, Burrow's "RAC" Guides and Burrow's Grey Guides. In a quarter cloth binding with paper boards. Externally generally smart, with shelf wear to the extremities. Small tears to the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Rubbed to the leather spine label, obscuring some of the lettering. Hinges are slightly strained but held firmly by cords. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Very Good. signed by author. book.
