A very scarce work. A collection of architectural engravings by John Coney. The work focuses on the architectural details of large ecclesiastical structures. Volume I with a frontispiece, twenty-five folding plates, and ninety-nine plates. Volume II with a frontispiece, twenty-six folding plates, and eighty-eight plates. Coney was an architectural engraver, who published his first work, a collection of views of Warwick Castle, in 1815. After this he found success in his drawings, and was commissioned to illustrate a new edition of 'Monasticon' by William Dugdale. His engravings all show minute detail in a very neat manner. He also published 'Architectural Beauties of Continental Europe', and 'Engravings of Ancient Cathedrals'. In a half straight grained morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, the front board of Volume I is detached but present. Some light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Minor marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some foxing to the edges of each page. Good Only. book.
