In Echo, Sauge, bored with her husband and Paris, leaves for a soujourn in her aunt's inhospitable Scottish castle, where she encounters her savage and androgynous twin cousins, Malcolm and his sister Jean, who elicit an ambiguous sexual response from Sauge.
