"This is Prince's major work and was one of the earliest textbooks in America to treat plastic surgery as a separate specialty. It is actually a compendium of three reports that he had made to the Illinois State Medical Society, in 1864, 1867, and 1871. These consisted of a reprint of his textbook Orthopedics: a Systematic Treatise upon the Prevention and Correction of Deformities [1866] and Plastics: a New Classification and Brief Exposition of Plastic Surgery. The latter was reprinted from the Transactions of the Illinois State Medical Society for 1867. In addition, there is an untitled report on plastic and orthopedic surgery from 1871. . ."
