First Edition
First Edition. Page proofs, long folded and gathered (unbound) sheets. Accompanied by a reproduction of an early review and a "compliments of the publisher" card conveying this "at the request of Bob Philips [the editor, and executor of Schwartz's estate]". The envelope from the publicity department is postmarked in May; it seems likely that this was sent from the publisher to rather late in the game, that is not for publicity or review purposes but for someones collection. Nevertheless a rare and very early state of the publication. This was a posthumous publication of essays, found in the author's literary estate held at Yale. Very good, the envelope worn.
