Soft cover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. This is a rare toy catalog from 1919 - right after World War I ended. The world was ready to rebuild and so were junior architects. This clever toy architectural set could be used to build not only model buildings, but furniture, machines and a host of other things, only limited by the imagination of the child. The catalog has a good many illustrated suggestions for building projects. Lincoln Logs, Tyro Blocks more famous competitor, came out around the same time - it was Lincoln Logs that prevailed and Tyro blocks became part of the wonderful history of toys. Their inability to match Lincoln Logs in sales is one reason for the rarity of, not only the kits, but their catalogs and instruction booklets as well. Presented here is one of the Tyro Blocks Catalogs. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: This is a horizontal-style booklet, fastened with two staples and measuring 8 3/4" x 5 7/8" in size. It has 28 pages. There are numerous line illustrations inside. On the front is a nostalgic scene of children and their parents playing with the block set - they have constructed a magnificent model of a large house . the family's dream-house? CONDITION - FAIR - This is a previously owned book that is fairly rough but which is serviceable, with the following noted: The catalog has been folded vertically causing a crease that extends through the entire book. The exterior is somewhat rough with nicks and small tears along the edges, a bit of loss to front bottom edge - a small bit of surface peel (or surface loss) to the front, as well as general smudging and spotting and a bit of ink smudging - The interior paper is toned but clean; there are various signs of use, such as edge tears and creases and a bit of spotting - else quite serviceable . This catalog seldom appear on the market.
