Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Dodd Mead and Company, 1972, New York. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. No stated edition, no printing history, but likely first edition and early printing (original owner's month of purchase was December, 1972; publication date was November 20, 1972). 8-1/2" tall, 243 numbered pages; vertical-patterned paper-covered boards with rose colored cloth quarter binding, silver & black lettering on spine only; plain rose red end pages; fore edge is trimmed. Book has been read but is still in very good condition: it is square, hinges tight, corners not bumped, no dings on edges, head and heel of spine not bumped; spine not damaged or cracked. The interior is nearly pristine: except for the original owner's name, date and city inked on page facing the title page, it is clean and unmarked; no page corners folded or damaged; pages are tight and clean with no writing, stains, or marks of any sort; no staining or discoloration; hinges are tight and undamaged; no distortion of the book from reading or improper shelving; fore edge has small light smudge. Jacket is in good condition: it is clean; no tears, folds, creases or fading; no bumps on spine or edges; publisher's original price of "$6.95" listed on the upper right corner of front flap. However, it has masking tape on the back side along both edges, on the spine and both folds; this tape has not affected the binding of the book but has discolored the jacket wherever it was attached (see photo). Condition of book and jacket consistent with being gently read. No other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no inscriptions, not price clipped, not a book club edition, not a former library book.
