Cloth. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Various (illustrator). First Thus. A very nice copy of this limited edition of art from Japanese scrolls. The volume is in lovely shape, with the previous owner's discreet name and date/place of purchase on the front free endpaper. Issued without dustjacket. This copy is in the original slipcase, which is in very good condition with a break in the paper at the base of the spine of the box and one small place of removed illustration, about 1 cm by 2 cm, in the center of the cover with the flute player. Included with the book are two order forms: the smaller is 5x8" (2 sides) and has one small illustration, the larger 10x16" folded to 8x10" with three larger illustrations. The latter says in its final paragraph: "This edition is limited to one thousand copies." There is no indication of limitation within the book itself, so this is a useful piece of information indeed! Very pretty book. Shipping may be more than ABEBooks' default due to the size of this volume. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Here is another large book showcasing Asian art; this one is titled: Emakimono-The Art of Japanese Painted Hand-Scroll with the text by Professor Dietrich Seckel and the Foreword and Photographs by Akihisa Hase. This very large hard cover book in its glossy pictorial slipcase (9 ? x 12 ? inches, 238 pages) was published by Jonathan Cape of London dated 1959. It is bound in green woven cloth boards with embossed gilt titles on the cover and on the spine. The book is nicely illustrated with 68 color, tipped-in plates, some fold-outs. There is also a good deal of explanatory text about this art form both in general and about the individual examples in the book. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The slipcase is a bit battered with some bumping to the corners and some separation of the plastic film from the boards. It is not split, however, and is still fully capable of doing its job. The hard covers are clean and bright and show just the faintest bumping. Inside the book is unmarked although one can perceive an erased price on the front endpaper. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright and the colors still vibrant.
