Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Emulsion Polymerization and Emulsion Polymers Edited by Peter A. Lovell Manchester Materials Science Centre, UMIST, Manchester, UK andMohamed S. El-Aasser Emulsion Polymers Institute and Department of Chemical Engineering, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, USA Emulsion polymerization is a technologically and commercially important reaction used to produce synthetic polymers and latexes for a wide range of applications. It is the basis of a massive global industry that is expanding due to the versatility of the reaction and the greater realization of the ability to control properties of the polymer latexes produced. Emulsion Polymerization and Emulsion Polymers provides an up-to-date treatment of both academic and industrial aspects of the subject in a single self-contained volume. Established knowledge is integrated with latest developments and introductory chapters to give a state-of-the-art summary which is also suitable as a broad based introduction to the field. The individual chapters have been written by specialists from academia and industry and are presented in a way which ensures that the book will be of equal value to experienced researchers and students.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! A polymer is a large molecule (macromolecule) composed of repeating structural units typically connected by covalent chemical bonds. While polymer in popular usage suggests plastic, the term actually refers to a large class of natural and synthetic materials with a wide variety of properties, including properties typically associated with plastics. Because of the extraordinary range of properties accessible in polymeric materials, they play an essential and ubiquitous role in everyday life from plastics and elastomers on the one hand to natural biopolymers such as DNA and proteins that are essential for life on the other. A simple example is polyethylene, whose repeating unit is based on ethylene (IUPAC name ethene) monomer. Most commonly, as in this example, the continuously linked backbone of a polymer used for the preparation of plastics consists mainly of carbon atoms. However, other structures do exist; for example, elements such as silicon form familiar materials such as silicones, examples being silly putty and waterproof plumbing sealant.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -Hydrophilic or hydrophobic functional monomers impart unusual properties to latexes. The type, amount, and addition sequence of functional monomers affect the colloidal stability, film formation and mechanical properties of latexes. Carboxylic acid and hydroxyl functional monomers provide reactive sites for crosslinking. The colloidal stability of latex particles can be enhanced by functional groups such as carboxylic acids. The latexes with functional groups can also be used to graft inorganic materials to form hybrid materials. Functional groups on the latexes not only determine the morphology of the latexes, but also the polymerization kinetics. The present work focused on assessing the effects of the type and the amount of functional monomers on the physical properties of hybrid latexes (particle size, solid content, and glass transition temperature, etc.), polymerization kinetics of core-shell latexes and mechanical properties of thermoset latex films.VDM Verlag, Dudweiler Landstraße 99, 66123 Saarbrücken 252 pp. Englisch.
