The present copy is further distinguished by a pencil sketch to the front blank, depicting a sailor figure with telescope, and to rear blank, depicting a group drinking. In a contemporary half calf binding with marbled paper boards. Externally, worn. Front hinge cracked to upper half, with loss to calf. Lifting to marbled paper from joints, more so to rear board. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to calf and paper. Front hinge strained, failing to upper half but holding. Previous owner"s pencil inscription to front paste down, dated 1995; sketches to free endpapers. Previous owner"s contemporary ink inscription to dedication at pp. iv.
