The second edition was completely rewritten for the use of the "modern" falconer. Illingworth's tales of hunting for eyries and collecting eyas peregrines and gyrs have been much toned down. This is a much more practical handbook than the first edition. The third edition lacks the colour frontispiece of the second, and has a few more minor revisions. .
