Paperback. Condition: Good condition. Early edition. 170 pages of text (actually 125 due to inconsistencies in pagination). Original black paperback binding is heavily worn, creased and chipped; protected in custom-fitted archival Mylar. Illustrated with a frontisportrait of the author. Inscribed by the author in pencil on the final page, which was designed as a dedication page: To "McGraw" Compliments of "[signed] Chris F. Lawlor Burnet House 2/9/98." The text includes one of the earliest mentions in print of the "High Ball (or Bradley Martin)" and contains several Absinthe-inspired concoctions. Previous owner's name neatly on the front endpaper "Fred Schwartz" and "Chas [Charles] Shirk 1472 St. Clair St Clev[eland] Ohio." Several pages have stains, small tears, chips and/or creases. Page [102] contains an advertisement for Burnet House. Page [128] contains an advertisement for the Big 4 railroad Route between Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis. The actual pagination is complex and often misunderstood; if advertisements in earlier printings were omitted, and/or if advertisements were different between Cincinnati and Chicago publishing firms, it might provide some explanation as to why. As published, this printing is considered complete as verified with other copies, and has 125 pages of text as follows: [i], 1-64, [i], 70-82 (with [80] and [82] blank), 95-103, 103a, 103b, 103c, 103d, 104, 104a, 104b, 109-[128], 139, 158-161, 166-[170].
