FIRST EDITION 1899, small format, approximately 75 x 62 mm, 3 x 2½ inches, in original publisher's buff boards, illustrated green and black on both covers and spine, lettered gilt on front and spine, 132 pages including half-title, title page and all prelims. Frontispiece, title illustration and 29 very good full page black and…white illustrations, some small tailpieces also, by Arthur S. Wilkinson. 32 wellknown fables. Gilt dull, extremities slightly rubbed, small erasure on lower cover (see image), a few top corners with small light crease, occasional small pale stain, otherwise contents very nice, no inscriptions.
