There is also a facsimile of the announcement of the appearance of the violinist Angelo Diotti. Green cloth ruled in gilt and with an elaborate vignette heavily stamped in gilt and red of a tree with red fruit on it and a violin in the middle of the canopy in such a way that the whole looks at first glance to be a butterfly! Beneath the violin is a small martiini glass and the base of the tree shows its twined roots, as well as the signature of the binding designer "P" [J. Alden Peirson]. Cover design is in the Arts & Crafts Style. Minor wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, spine gilt slightly dulled, cover gilt and colors bright, front free endpaper missing (but there are still two blanks before the frontispiece), all illustrations by Christy in fine condition, as are their tissue guards, top edge gilt slightly dulled, else very good to near fine. No jacket.
