Ten years ago there appeared a book called Made in Tampere edited by Mirja and Olavi Porri together with Professor Yrjö Neuvo (texts). Much has happened since then. The present work presents the industry of the area today, an industry which has tranformed itself and given birth to entirely new areas of expertise to answer the challenges of the European Union and the Information Age. The firms operating in Pirkanmaa cover the whole spectrum of modern production, from granite hewn out of the base rock to the most sophisticated aerospace technology.
