Don Linehan (1924-2003) was born in Singapore, before being trained by the Jesuits in Ireland.  He taught in England and Ireland before moving to Canada in 1957 where he taught English in Nova Scotia. Birds of Fire was his only published book of poetry.   The poems in it are characterized by detailed natural references, inviting comparisons with the work of Kenneth Rexroth.  His work is also compared with the poetry of ancient Chinese poets. Birds of Fire was published in a limited edition run of 500 copies of which this is number 112, and is inscribed by the author. Inscribed by Author(s).
