hard cover. Condition: Good. No jacket. First Edition. New York:Charles Scribner's Sons. 1896. 1st edition. viii+177pp. Illustrated by C. D. Gibson, A. B. Frost, F. T. Richards and the Author. Signed/inscribed by the Author on the 1st free flyleaf. Hardcover. Green boards lightly soiled, rubbed and shelfworn, with wear to edges and spine ends. Edge points gently bumped and rubbed. Top edges gilt, but scratched. Internally, end pages slightly age-toned/foxed but aside from Author's inscription, free of previous owners marks or signatures. Pages generally clean but for an occassional smudge scattered throughout. The binding is tight but cocked, with hinges still intact. A near very good copy. Stories include That First Affair; Mrs. Lofter's Ride; Two Portraits; The Man Who Vanished; and A Bachelor's Supper. *BAL:14039; Wright 3:3772. . Inscribed by author.
