First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good to Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair to Good. Audrey McNaughton (illustrator). 1st Edition. This one "tells the true story of Cilroy, a Canadian half-bred hunter, who accomplished what most of the world's greatest horsemen believed impossible, and in doing so helped bring a coveted award to Canada." May takes a bit of liberty with the story, telling it in the horse's voice. Yellow covers w/blue lettering to front cover/spine, 160 pages (including glossary). Gently bumped/lightly worn corners/spine ends, tanned/lightly soiled edges, a couple of turned corners, rust stains (from paper clips) to top of front pastedown/first end paper and, in varying degrees, to tops of several pages, in worn dust jacket w/rubbing, impressions/scratches, edgewear, numerous edge tears of varying length (the longest 2.5" diagonally at top left corner of front panel), chipping, 1.5" x 1.5" piece missing from bottom edge of rear panel. Not generally found in a jacket of any kind, so this one has been placed in a mylar sleeve, which protects it from further damage, and also spruces it up a bit. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book.
