Hardcover. Condition: Near fine. Quarto. (74)pp. Rectos all sport silkscreen designs in vibrant colors, some extending across the spread. The compilation, created by the Design Class at the Art Institute, reflects the vanguard of art just after the Second World War, when much of the contemporary art scene had moved across the At…lantic to America. The designs are somewhat surrealist, somewhat cubist, and certainly evocative of the abstract expressionism that would come to dominate the art world in the decade to come. Still, the specificity of design prevails, and one can imagine many of the images adapted into textiles, wallpapers, murals, and other decorative applications. Arrangement and printing completed by S. Eliason, K. Langworthy, R. Mosier, Mary Jane Rogers, Joseph Van Camp, and Barbara Webb. Bound in full black cloth printed in white. Modest rubbing along edges, light bumping to head and tail of spine. Near fine. One of fifty copies, signed by contributors throughout.
