In late pregnancy, she was diagnosed with a rare defect on her outer brain, and agreed to opt for the 12-hour neurosurgery that would save her life. Complications led to a case of retrograde amnesia, which she struggled with for over a decade. She would eventually leave Sydney to live a quieter life between mountain and sea on the NSW South Coast. She eventually returned to journalism and magazine editing. Anne then returned to university to study Creative Writing, obtaining a PhD. She now works as a copywriter and is writing a novel. This is her first published book.
