Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A gripping memoir that reads like a psychological thriller. When Anne wakes in hospital, she is unable to recognise anyone or anything, mistaking herself for a young girl at first. She can talk but cannot remember much, including, as it turns out, the birth of her daughter, her rocky relationship with a man who is said to be her husband, and a mysterious man she feels a deep longing for but is warned against. As Anne tries to recover and piece together what has happened, fragments of memory come back but do little to help and sometimes confuse her further. The people in her life tell a different story about her past and Anne is unsure of who to believe. During her investigation into her history, Anne discovers that she was once a journalist for a Sydney newspaper for which she wrote a controversial story about the criminal underbelly of Mosman in the 70s. She charts the fallout she experienced from unmasking one of Sydney's affluent, darling leafy suburbs. Against this backdrop of unease and intrigue, Anne is forced to confront her new physical limitations, and try and work out the truth of who she is. AUTHOR: Anne grew up in Mosman and studied Arts and English Literature at the University of Sydney. She undertook a graduate cadetship in journalism at the Sydney Morning Herald where she worked for several years. After leaving news, and returning to work as an arts editor for the Eastern Herald, she then worked as a magazine features editor. In late pregnancy, she was diagnosed with a rare defect on her outer brain, and agreed to opt for the 12-hour neurosurgery that would save her life. Complications led to a case of retrograde amnesia, which she struggled with for over a decade. She would eventually leave Sydney to live a quieter life between mountain and sea on the NSW South Coast. She eventually returned to journalism and magazine editing. Anne then returned to university to study Creative Writing, obtaining a PhD. She now works as a copywriter and is writing a novel. This is her first published book.
