Buon esemplare, un po' allentato, alcune bruniture. G. A. Cicognini (Firenze, 1606 - Venezia, 1651?), è stato uno dei letterati e delle figure più importanti del dramma per musica del XVII secolo, nel quale egli fuse elementi sia di stampo tragico che comico. Il Cicognini fu considerato dai contemporanei il più grande drammaturgo dell'epoca, e il diffuso prestigio della sua fama gli attribuì più di cinquanta opere, alcune delle quali sono invece di dubbia paternità, come la qui presente opera comica " L'amore tra nemici", che recenti studi hanno attribuito a Michele Stanchi. Le sue opere teatrali ebbero una notevole importanza soprattutto per il linguaggio e per le soluzioni sceniche, accostabili a quelle della Commedia dell'Arte, dove venivano utilizzate le tecniche più ricercate e spettacolari. Rara raccolta.

Rilegato. Condition: ottimo. In-8 (185x120 mm.), pp. 175, (5). Legatura in mezza pergamena moderna con nome dell'autore impresso in oro al dorso. Tagli spruzzati di rosso. Edizione originale di queste osservazioni intorno alle diverse tecniche retoriche, stilistiche o mimiche scatenanti il ridicolo. L'autore, dopo aver lamentato che al suo tempo le commedie non riescono più a muovere al riso poiché, seguendo le mode di oltralpe, sono tramutate piuttosto in seriosi drammi, ci lascia un'ampia appendice sulla natura del riso con citazione di tutti quegli autori che nei tempi andati ne trattarono nei loro scritti.
