A grouping of four (4) items relating to the War Work Council of the Y.W.C.A in 1918, which was formed to disseminate important news about the Y.W.C.A.'s work at home and abroad to support the war effort-- specifically, the work done by women to help the war effort, and the work done to support girls and women affected by the war. The items include: issue No. 35 of the organization's "War Work Bulletin", offering news and opportunities for aid (e.g. a book drive for girls in the war industry centers); a promotional booklet for the Y.M.C.A. Hut and Y.W.C.A. Hostess Hut; one brief bifolium leaflet reporting the War Work Council's activities from June 1917 to June 1918; and a brief bifolium leaflet outlining the War Work Council's main aims. The Bulletin includes a photo of five young women working in a factory setting to help the war effort. The largest item measures approx. 12" by 9", and the smallest measures 7.5" by 5" "The War Work Council of the YWCA of the U.S.A. is the vehicle through which the YWCA of the U.S.A. organizes, administers and reports on its war work activities at home and abroad. The War Work Council is seen as an extension of the program and mission of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and is accomplished through cooperation with existing divisions of the organization.
