Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. True first British printing with original unclipped jacket (10s 6d). Wood engravings by Thomas Bewick. Jacket has edge/shelf wear, fading to/near spine, a few marks, minor loss (mainly to one corner/back top edge), the odd small scratch, foxing, patchy browning, couple of small (approx. 1cm) tears and a little bumping to corners. Boards are very good with minor pushing to a couple of corners and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages slightly dusty with mild foxing. Previous owner's name in pen to front end-paper. Minor foxing to first/last couple of pages. Page edges little tanned. No other faults. Jacket has minor patchy edge/shelf wear, severe fading to/near spine, a little other minor patchy fading, a few tiny (approx. 3mms) tears, the odd small mark, odd minor crease/rub to edges, minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine and to corners, the odd spot of foxing/patchy browning to reverse (white side) and the occasional small scratch. Boards are near fine (having been well protected by the jacket) with a hint of pushing to corners and very minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Odd small mark/spots of foxing to top edge of pages. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. No other faults. A nice copy.
