Innerhalb der Darstellung oben mittig Wappenkartusche mit Glocke, darunter mit "Franicker" betitelt. - Schöne Vedute von Franeker (Frjentsjer / Fronacker) in der… niederländischen Provinz Friesland. Die detailreiche Stadtsilhouette hinter den Wehranlagen mit bäuerlichen Staffagefiguren im Vordergrund. Der Kupferstich stammt aus einer lateinischen Ausgabe von ?Descrittione di M. Lodovico Guicciardini patritio Fiorentino, di tutti i paesi bassi, altrimenti detti Germania inferiore: Con piu carte di Geographia del paese, & col ritratto naturale di piu terre principali [?]? von Lodovico Guicciardini (1521-1589). Das Werk ist, eine mit Karten und Stadtansichten illustrierte, Beschreibung der ganzen Niederlande (titti i peasi bassi) und Niederdeutschlands (Germania inferiore). Teile der Stiche stammen von Pieter van den Keere / Petrus Kaerius ( 1570-1630). - Guter Abzug auf Vergépapiert mit allseits Rand zur Plattenkante. Blattränder etwas bestoßen, oben mittit mit kleinen Einrissen. Oben rechts einige unscheinbar hinterlegte Löcher. Verso latein. Texfeld "Descriptio Franekerae". Insgesamt in einem gutem Erhaltungszustand. - - (1570 Gent - 1630 ebenda), belgischer Kupferstecher. Geboren als Sohn des Buchdruckers und Schriftgießers Hendric van den Keere, flieht Kaerius aufgrund religiöser Unruhen nach London, wo er als Kupferstecher tätig ist. Seine frühesten Stiche sind in John Nordens "Speculum Britanniae" (1593) zu finden. Um 1595 kehrt er nach Holland zurück und lässt sich in Amsterdam nieder. In Zusammenarbeit mit Jodocus Hondius erscheint hier als erstes "Nova totius Europae descriptio". Ab 1609 tritt er ebenfalls als Verleger in Erscheinung. 1617 erscheint der Atlas der Niederlande "Germania inferior" mit seinem Namen als Verfasser und mit einigen Karten, die seine volle Stechersignatur zeigen. Neben verschiedenen topografischen Einzelblättern u. a. von Amsterdam (1618), Nürnberg (1619) und dem Herzogtum Württemberg (1619) sticht Kaerius 1621 eine Weltkarte ("Nova totius terrarum orbis"), die bei Jan Janszoon in Amsterdam erscheint. - (1521 Florenz - 1589 Antwerpen). Italienischer Kaufmann, Kartograf und Geograf, Humanist, Staatsmann und Literat, entstammt altem Florentiner Adel. Ließ sich 1542 in Antwerpen nieder, wo er bedeutende historiografische und kartgrafische Werke veröffentlichte. Ruhm erlangte er mit seiner Beschreibung Antwerpens "De idyllische Nederlanden: Antwerpen en de Nederlanden in de 16e eeuw" und dem reich illustrierten Geschichtswerk "Di tutti i paesi bassi" von 1567.
