Add to basketLater Marbled Hardback. Condition: Very Good - See Description. Various Editions. 1774, 1773 and 1778. Fourth, second and first editions respectively. [vi], 69; [iv], viii, 71pp. plus an errat slip bound in between pages 70 and 71; [ii], 48pp. followed by mispaginated pages numbered 37 to 72. This is a collection of three plays bound in a single volume, written by Gorges Edmond Howard (1715-1786), an Irish author and playwright, writing on the law and miscellaneous subjects. He was born in Coleraine on 28 August 1715 and educated at Thomas Sheridan's school in Dublin. The book has been attractively rebacked and recased in later marbled paper covered boards with gold titling on a leather label on the spine. This recasing is probably from the year 2000. The case of the book is in very good condition. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few small marks and stains from finger smudges, etc., and some foxing in 'The Siege of Tamor'. This play also has some staining on pages 66 and 67 and a small water stain near the bottom corner of the title page. 'Almeyda' has a stain on page 39 and some soiling on the title page, together with an inscription that is probably by the author and appears to read "Diana Elizabeth Vernon la livre given her by the Author." Just below the wording 'Rival Kings' on the title page of this play a section measuring about 1/4" x 2 1/2" has been cut away, presumably to remove and additional part of the inscription. Inscribed by Author(s).
