Book has some light wear to spine ends. DJ is price clipped, tape residue on inside of dj over closed tears, has large chip at spine bottom (eliminating all but 'M' in Macmillan), smaller chip at top of spine and upper front gutter, closed tear bottom of front panel, smaller closed tear on rear panel, chips on corners, rubbing and wear on spine, corner folds and edges. Admirable poems by England's Poet Laureate in appreciation of all the unsung heroes on the home front during WWII, with many beautiful b& w drawings by Seago (their third such collaboration). A,much nicer book than the description of the dust jacket would indicate.

Unclipped jacket has heavy edge wear with large tears, chipping and creasing. All surfaces heavily tanned. Front flap detached.

A pin-sized hole to the back of the book has carried througjh some pages (very close to the spine so hardly noticeable.) Has gift inscription to Free Front endpaper, the endpapers being faintly spotted but the main text is clear and clean and binding is firm.
