Lippincott, Grambo, & Co., 1852 *** An original engraved lithograph map and view with original hand coloring. It is not a reproduction or photocopy. The view of Pigeon Point shows it in its original wild state with no hints of civilization. The Point is located in the northeast extremity of Minnesota, and is a peninsula jutting into Lake Superior. This area is still quite isolated and is popular as an outdoors recreation site. The map shows some of the rock strata underlying the peninsula. At the bottom is a geological profile of same. This may be the earliest scientific map of this area's geology and is fairly scarce. *** This map is clean with good color, some off-setting, some faint damp stain and a little rippling along ½ of one fold. Two vertical folds, as issued. No tears. Blank verso. *** Image is 10.5 inches high by 17.75 inches, sheet is 12.25 inches high by 20.5 inches. Will be shipped folded.
