520 pp Das Künstlerbuch dokumentiert Gerhard Richters Experiment der Zerlegung einer Reproduktion eines seiner Abstrakten Bilder [WVZ: 724-4] in vertikale Streifen: erst 2, dann 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, bis hin zu 4096 Streifen. Der Prozess dieser 12 stufigen Zerlegung resultiert in 8190 Streifen, wobei die B…reite jedes Streifens der Breite des originalen Bildes entspricht. Mit jeder Stufe der Zerlegung werden die Streifen zunehmend dünner (ein Streifen der 12ten Zerlegung ist 0,08 mm). Eine unendliche Zerlegung ist möglich, jedoch würden diese Streifen nur noch in der Vergrößerung sichtbar werden. New book, originally sealed, in its original cardboard box. Jeder Streifen ist dann gespiegelt und wird wiederholt, dabei ergeben sich Muster. Die Anzahl der Wiederholungen nimmt zu mit jeder Zerlegung, um ein Muster mit immer gleicher Größe zu erhalten. Die dokumentierten Ergebnisse von 221 aufgelisteten Mustern sind publiziert auf 221 doppelseitigen Bildern. Das Buch selbst erscheint in einer limitierten Auflage von 800 nummierten Kopien.
