Hardcover. Condition: g+. First edition. 1/2900. Quarto. XVI, 291, [1]pp. Original photo-illustrated dust-jacket over cloth. Title page inscribed and signed by Giņ Pomodoro to Barbara Poe, and dated "16.2.91, Milano." Exquisite monograph on Giņ Pomodoro, a noted sculptor, and brother of the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro. Gio Pomodoro was also jeweler, printmaker, and stage designer born in 1930. In 1954, he moved to Milan, where he associated with leading avant-garde artists and made jewelry with his brother Arnaldo. He began to produce reverse reliefs in clay and also formed assemblages of various materials including wood, textiles, and plaster. Both kinds of works were then cast in metal. During the 1960s, he developed several series of sculptures, in various metals, which explored a range of abstract shapes, usually with smooth undulating surfaces. In his later career, Pomodoro produced a number of large outdoor structures. This volume is profusely illustrated throughout with 470 b/w and color photographic reproductions of the artist and his work. Moderate sunning and discoloration on spine of dust-jacket. Lower back corner bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Text in Italian. Dust-jacket in overall good- to good, binding in good+, interior in good+ to very good condition.
