Dust jacket is not price clipped and is protected by archival mylar. Text block is tight and clean. The book was based on a story about evolution the author, a war correspondent based in Paris at the end of WWII, wrote for the amusement of his children. The illustrator, Walt Kelly, was already well known at the time as the creator of the beloved comic strip Pogo.

Dark red cloth boards are clean and pointed with illustrated endpages. Orange dust jacket is glossy and unclipped with a sunned spine, minor edge wear, and some closed tears along the extremities. Small chip on upper crown.
