[Film] Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part II starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Diane Keaton. Archive of 4 original vintage lobby cards. "Paramount, 1974." All lobby cards are 11" x 14" and in color. The Godfather Part II is both a sequel and a prequel to the first film, developing a backstory for Vito "Don" Corleone and following Michael Corleones future. The film is one of the rare moments where a sequel is regarded as more successful than the original, according to reviewer Roger Ebert. He cites the dark tones, philosophical nature of the film, and the loss of Michael's soul as key reasons for the sequels improvement upon the first film. The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and is regarded as one of the greatest films of world cinema by Sight and Sound Magazine. Images feature two action sequences from the movie, including one of Pacino as Michael Corleone and two of Robert De Niro as a young Don Corleone. All feature the title of the film, actors, Paramount logo and credits in a corner. All in very good condition.
[Film] Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Archive of 5 original vintage lobby cards. "Paramount, 1972." Three are 9" x 12" and two are 8" x 10", all in color. The Godfather is a 1972 epic Mafia film, based on Mario Puzzo book of the same name. It was the highest-grossing film ever made at the time. The success changed the studio systems in Hollywood, leading to blockbusters, sequels and other trends. It also changed the image of the standard Hollywood star with actors like Pacino, Brando, Duvall and James Caan and won 4 Academy Awards including Best Picture. Photos feature iconic scenes like the wedding Connie Corleone at the start of the movie, that includes all the main characters, others feature Brando in the hospital after the attemt on his life, and Pacino getting married in Italy to Apollina his young Sicilian bride, another scene is of Michael with his American wife Diane Keaton. The two smaller lobby cards feature the film title, producer, and other copyright information in the lower white margin, and the three larger lobby cards feature the films title and the Paramount logo in a box in the left corner. 3 have pinholes and minor wear from display in theaters. Overall, in very good condition. With its brilliant portrayal of the Corleone family, The Godfather by Mario Puzo burned its way into our national consciousness as the definitive novel of the Mafia underworld. Don Vito Corleone is the head of a New York Mafia family, presiding over a vast underground empire that includes rackets, gambling, bookmaking and unions from his fortress of a home in Long Island. His influence runs through all levels of American society, from the cop on the beat to the nation's leading politicians. But he is constantly at war with the four other families of the New York Mafia in their endless fight for power. As Corleone's desperate struggle to control the Mafia underworld unfolds, so does the story of his family. By the time Mario Puzo's fictional account of the Corleone family arrived on bookshelves in 1969, organized crime had been prevalent in the news for nearly two decades, instilling fear and fascination into the hearts of the American public. When The Godfather first appeared on The New York Times bestseller list, the newspaper reported that the novel was bound to be hugely successful, and not simply because the Mafia is in the news. Mr. Puzo's novel is a voyeur's dream, a skillful fantasy of violent personal power without consequence. It remained on The New York Times bestseller list for 67 weeks, and sold over nine million copies in two years. In 1972, The Godfather was turned into the incomparable film of the same name, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. A tale of family and society, law and order, obedience and rebellion, The Godfather reveals the dark passions of human nature played out against a backdrop of the American dream. An incredible collectible edition of this American classic. ROBUST SHIPPING.
