Sir John Collins Squire was a British writer, poet, writer, historian, and prominent editor of literature after the first World War at the London Mercury, and an early announcer for the Wimbledon. In addition to his many endeavors, he was also knighted. In this book he published 11 short stories including The Gold Tree, A Summer's Day, A Good Little Boy, A Dead Man, Duty, and The Bookshop in Dreams. Signed by author on colophon. Each story illustrated with an initial designed by Austin O. Spare, and cut in wood by W. Quick. DJ with wear along edges, chips and minor staining. Minor foxing at foredge. Dust jacket in overall fair, interior in very good condition.
