First Edition
Octavo, pp. [1-14] 15-286 [287] [288: blank], publisher's blue cloth, front and spine panels stamped in orange. First edition, first printing. Radio monologues and narratives, about half of them supernatural. "It is possible that a skilled narrator might make these stories come to life, but as read, they are undeveloped, and the penchant for a trick ending is annoying." - Bleiler, The Guide to Supernatural Fiction 9. Barron (ed), Horror Literature 3-1. Wilson, Shadows in the Attic, p. 29. Bleiler (1978), p. 3. Owner's name, "P Atkinson," and address written on the front paste-down, some scattered foxing, mainly on the page edges, and text block early and late, otherwise a fine copy (the foxing is common to this book). The pictorial 3/6 dust jacket is worn along the top and bottom edges, has several internal paper mends at edges, and there is a small scuff to the spine panel with loss of surface. A couple of pertinent contemporary clippings about the book and its author are laid in. The first printing of this book is uncommon and it is rarely found in jacket. (#169925).
