She was married to fellow actor Ossie Davis (who wrote the Introduction) for more than fifty years. As new, first edition, first printing, in as new, mylar-protected dust jacket. The book's dustjacket has some rubbing and some tiny tears, Also included is a program from TAKE IT FROM THE TOP. This is a 6pg. foldover program from the Off Broadway production that had words and lyrics by Ruby Dee and starred her and her husband Ossie Davis. THE PROGRAM IS SIGNED BY RUBY DEE, OSSIE DAVIS, LOU MEYERS AND PAMELA POITIER (sidney's daughter).the program is fine. Also included is an original color tinted 11" x 14" lobby card from the 1960 film "Take A Giant Step" which featured Ruby Dee. The card features a scene with Dee, Johnny Nash & Bea Richards. Also included is a nice 8" x 10" portrait of Ossie Davis that HAS BEEN INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY HIM. Sold as a collection only. Book.

AARL is the Auburn Avenue Research Library, focusing on African American archives, and is part of the Atlanta Fulton County Library System. 124pp. First edition.

Ruby Dee and her husband Ossie Davis (who wrote the introduction to this work) were an inseparable couple who wrote and acted together over decades. Dee got her start on Broadway, most notably as Ruth Younger in the original cast of Lorraine Hansberry's Raisin in the Sun. She also had an extensive career in theater and film, which this book recounts moments of with original poems interspersed. Some minor closed tears and creases to dust jacket, with 1/4 in. paper loss at top of spine. Very good condition overall. Signed.
