Goodbye, River, Goodbye was written by George Mendoza and illustrated with beautifully done black-and-white photography by George A. Tice. The book was published by Doubleday & Company, Inc. in 1971 and is a stated First Edition. It IS an ex-library book The book is in very good condition but for the library markings, and it has no dust jacket, but neither does it have any external library markings. It's 10 1/2" by 8 3/16" and has about 20 glossy pages with a poem and black-and-white photographs. "Goodbye, River, Goodbye is a song to a river called Battenkill. Streaming through the sun-cliffed meadows and drifting mountain pines of Vermont, the river was my refuge, my window outside the rooms of the real world." Thank you!

Nice book, tight and square with bright covers and spine, clean unmarked interior. Sturdy binding. Shelfwear to edges with a chip at tail of spine and 1" vertical closed tear to top edge of front cover. Flaps intact. Brick red cloth boards have a little sunning at edges. Shelfwear at edges, corners bumped. Black and brown spine titling and cover illustration are still sharp. Toning and soiling to top edge of textblock, foxing to foreedge. Interior age-toned. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Just a couple scattered pencil notations. Binding square and rather tight.

    Condition: Very Good. 1961. First UK Edition. 306 pages. In English. Dimensions: 22cm x 14.5cm x 2.5cm. A captivating pictorial dust jacket, in red and yellow, over original green cloth boards. Gilt blocked titles on spine, which have dulled over time. Black and white decorations and full page illustrations by Russell Waterhouse. Pages remain clean and bright, with firm binding. There is little tanning, with a dusting of foxing to the top edge of text block. A small stain can be seen to the fore-edge. Boards remain in good condition, with minor wear around the edges and crushing to spine ends. There is some water staining along some board edges, but this does little harm to the overall appearance. Clipped dust jacket has only small tears and chipping to the edges, mainly at spine ends. There is some tanning to the spine and edges. Long stain along bottom edge on back panel, slightly outlined with a red tint.
