Hard Cover. First Edition, First printing. Stated Firt printing of author's first book. Signed by author on title page. FINE IN FINE DUST JACKET WITH $8.95 PRICE.
Hardcover. 264p., hardbound in 8.5x6 inch pale grey boards with dark red backstrip lettered silverfoil, and enclosed in the dust jacket (unclipped). Mild hints of handling and age, a very good copy that is inscribed and signed by Greenleaf on the title page, to a bookdealer friend. Laid in are two typewritten letters to same, dated 10 Oct 1981 and 18 Oct 1984, with the respective typed envelopes and a New Yorker magazine review, laudatory, from 1979. Greenleaf does the best imitation Raymond Chandler we have read (Ross Macdonald trod a parallel path). Greenleaf's opening take is near-plagiary, yet we are not complaining.
