This rare colour etching is a refined and historically important work from 1991 by Sol LeWitt, one of the central figures of Conceptual and Minimal art. Executed on Somerset paper with watermark, the composition belongs to LeWitt's celebrated Black & Gray series, in which subtle tonal variation, structure, and repetition replace expressive gesture. The image presents a vertically oriented black field built from layered, irregular brush-like forms, creating a dense yet controlled surface. *** The etching is hand-signed and numbered by the artist in pencil lower left. It is an exceptionally small edition of only ten, making it particularly rare and desirable. *** The etching was published by Crown Point Press in Oakland, California, one of the most important print publishers of the late twentieth century, and bears the publisher's blind stamp. The work is fully documented in the catalogue raisonné as number 1991.09.  *** The work is professionally framed in our own frame-shop, floating on linen, in a measure made thick passe-partout, in hand-crafted, exclusive oak wooden frame with Plexiglass® Optical HC which is UV-resistant,scratch-proof, and significantly lighter than standard glass. Size framed approx.100x70 cm. *** Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) was a pioneer of Conceptual art, redefining the role of the artist by prioritizing ideas and systems over manual execution. His influence on contemporary art is profound, with major works held in museum collections worldwide, including MoMA, Tate Modern, and the Centre Pompidou. Prints such as this etching offer an essential insight into LeWitt's graphic language and his enduring impact on modern and contemporary art. | Authenticity and provenance guaranteed. | Delivered with a certificate of authenticity. | Worldwide shipping, tax-friendly to the USA and EU countries. | Custom handmade framing available on request.
