Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Color Plates; B&W Photos and figures; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 254 pages; 1954 W. W. Norton & Company. HC/DJ 1st American edition. Snugly bound and neat in original color pictorial dust jacket with publisher's $5.95 issue price intact to unclipped front flap. Illustrated throughout with b&w photos from telescope observations and many colored plates contributed by L F Ball. Prior ownership of noted Lunar cartographer, Luis Freile with ownership in pen to the title page and his ink ownership stamp to front endpage and a couple/few pages of the text. Freile was the chief cartographer responsible for the highly regarded Map of the Moon issued by Rand McNally in 1969. It was the first detailed lunar map available for sale to the public. Jacket lightly shelf rubbed with a few nicks and tiny chips at edges. Freile has penned an observational note at front. Very attractive copy with a notable associational ownership. VG++/VG+.
