Rules, Regulations and handwritten contemporary notes apparently compiled by J.W.Jones of Croydon, Managing Director of The Smokeless Powder Company Limited, Broad Street London c.1900-1920 (name and address on endpaper) and with a couple of neat stamps of the late (Herb) H.J.Woodend, of the Nottingham Pattern Room, indicating it was in his collection. Contents comprise printed Acts relating to proofing of weapons and the Proof House "Gun Barrel Proof Act" 1813,1815, 1868. printed 1896, 1901 etc. Gunmakers Company "Accounts" c.1900, Rules and Regulations February 1896 Gunmakers Company "Guardians of the Birmingham Proof House" illustrations and handwritten notes (see illustrations). Another similar with note by hand as "Private and Confidential Preliminary Draft", again handwriiten notes and handwritten letter relating dated July, 1938. Further two pages of notes and neatly affixed handwritten form listing of types of powder and sizes of bullets c.1900. c.200pp., in all.All contained in brown hardback cloth with gilt title "Gunmakers Acts", spine lacking cloth and a little shaken. Still a rare compilation relating to the rules of proofing with personal notes etc and with interesting ownership. Spine very worn, internally very good condition.
