From the publisher: "From the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico, to the streets and bars of the Midwest, to the lakes and forests of northern Michigan, A HANDFUL OF DUST charts the journey of Nagashana as he wavers between the path of the poet and the path of the spirit; and explores the nature of earth renewal, quantum reality, mysticism, unity, and what it means to be a Ghost Dancer in today's world -- to dance with all of one's being for the earth. To take up a handful ofdust and throw it into both past and future, to cloud the eyes of those that seek an end to the chance for a natural, artistic and balanced way of life.

Near fine condition with a near fine dust jacket, showing only faint surface rubbing and a few tiny pressure marks to the rear panel, otherwise clean, bright, and unfaded. The boards are crisp and sharp-cornered, the binding tight, and the text pristine. No remainder marks. The dust jacket remains unclipped and attractive, with minimal edge wear and no tears?an unusually well-preserved copy given the jacket's light-colored background, which often shows handling. This copy is inscribed and signed with a warm presentation dated 2 December 2014 to "Judge Bill Nelson," adding notable association value. A Handful of Bullets: How the Murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand Still Menaces the Peace is Ullman's examination of the geopolitical legacy of 1914 and the modern consequences of strategic failure, published by the Naval Institute Press. First printings signed by the author are not common, and this is an appealing example for collectors of contemporary political analysis, military history, or assassination studies.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good +. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. A Handful of Stars by Ray House was published by Touchstone Publishing Company in 1970. Not an ex-library copy, this 315-page, approximately 5 1/2" X 8 1/2", Signed First Edition is in VG+/G condition. The book, for its 41 years, is practically like new, save for some very modest yellowing of its endpapers front and back as well as the pages of text, and some barely noticeable shelf wear at top and bottom edges of volume's spine. The dust jacket, perhaps from doing such an admirable job of housing its book, shows a bit more wear. It was necessary to clear tape in 5-6 random spots, mainly to repair/keep from worsening small tears. Fairly modest shelf wear is seen at top and bottom edges of jacket's spine, as well as at the four edges where front and back inside flaps actually make their inward folds. Other than that, this is a really nice jacket, newer in appearance than its age suggests. The book is SIGNED by its author in the central portion of the front loose end page. From back inside jacket flap, "A Handful of Stars is the story of Appalachia--its people, their feuds, their poverty, their pride, their family loyalty, their pitifully strip-mined land, their sense of history, their folkways and superstitions. More importantly, it is the story of a young man from the hills who discovers himself while reconstructing his past." I don't know about you, Reader, but I sense the presence of a bit of a "coming-of-age" saga, thinly disguised as a fictional story, in novel form. The author notes, in his Foreword, "Five years, off and on, went into the research and writing of this story, which is fiction based on present fact and history." Our protagonist, Jesse Tolliver, may well be the author. At any rate, if you are a resident, present or past, of that storied region of America that is Appalachia, or one who is drawn to stories that take place in an area so rich in so many ways, but poor in too many others, this offering may well be worth exploring. Thank you very much!! Signed by Author(s).
