An incredibly scarce biographical title on the life of conservative British writer, philanthropist and playwright Hannah More.More was a second-generation member of the Blue Stoc…kings Society, who lived, during the years 1792-1802, local to us, on Great Pulteney Street in Bath.Featuring the author's ink inscription to the half title, reading: 'Mr and Mrs Atkinson with best wish from the author. Christmas, 1921'.The author, Annette Meakin, and her mother, were the first women to travel to Japan via the Trans-Siberian Railway, beginning their journey in 1900.This copy features a monochrome frontispiece portrait, and 8 further monochrome portrait plates. Collated, complete. Bound in original blue cloth. Externally, very smart. Moderate bumping to extremities. Fading to spine. Rear hinge slightly starting, but firm. Slight age toning to endpapers.
