Leather. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 35p plus numerous plates. A hardcover book bound in full brown leatherwith silk endpapers and a gilt top edge. Very good condition. Edges and spine rubbed; spine is also sunfaded. Some light wear to the edges of the silk endpapers. Otherwise clean and tight. Scarce tribute to a prominent Dayton businessman and Oakwood resident, produced by his family shortly after his death. Talbott was an engineer, investor, and director of the City National Bank of Dayton. He also served as Oakwood's first mayor. As one of Dayton's wealthiest citizens, he played a key role alongside John H. Patterson in recovery from the 1913 flood. This commemorative volume contains numerous black and white plates and features a eulogy by Colonel Deeds. One of the blank pages in front contains an ink signature that matches the style of Talbott's own hand, although he was deceased when this book was produced. It is unknown whether the family had him provide autographs prior to his death, anticipating that they would include it in such a work as this, or if this signature is simply an imitation of his handwriting by an early recipient of the book.
