Add to basketPaperback. Condition: Near Fine. No Dust Jacket. Presumed First UK Edition. Not dated but circa 1845 to 1855. In the original red, blue and white pictorial light card or thick paper wrappers. A light corner crease to the top front corner and a little rubbing to the very bottom of the spine. Some pretty light patchy spotting to t…he Darton books advert on the rear cover only. Overall in REMARKABLE CONDITION for an ephemeral children's book this early. 15 pp including the insides of the covers. With delightful nine HAND-COLOURED wood engravings, including two vignettes, all presumably engraved by Calvert, but his name only appears clearly on the front cover as Sculptor. No note of the illustrator - but very 'typical ' of the period. A Very Good Plus to Near Fine copy. Published by Darton and Co. Holborn Hill, London as one of their charming early books for children making Moral Tales fun! Possibly one of a series in this 'Fun for Little Folks' range? Delightful and scarce!
