The print measures 19.5 x 64 cm (height x width) and is inscribed and dated in the caption below, on the left, with *I. Sailmaker Delin:P.V. 25* and on the right with *J.v.d.Alveden, Sc. Holmia 1705*. It is a wide-margined print on laid paper. It is framed under glass (frame dimensions: 40.5 x 84 cm - unopened). The print depicts a view from the Neustadt (New Town) across the Elbe River with the Augustus Bridge. In the background are the Royal Palace and the Brühl Terrace with its fortifications. Several boats are visible on the Elbe. It features beautiful original hand-coloring. It is likely based on the copper engraving by Matthäus Merian from 1650. The frame is slightly damaged, the print has some minor foxing along the outer edges and a few small ink stains in the lower left corner (easily concealed by a mat), and the print is slightly wavy and browned otherwise in good condition. (Storage location KG) (Please note: Due to the risk of breakage, shipping is only possible unframed - if the frame is desired, please arrange for self-collection) (Further pictures available upon request) / Item 12670.
