Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. This author signed book was dedicated: "With Devoted Filial Affection to Mrs. CYRUS H. McCORMICK, Senior". Written under the author's signature is: "Mamma read to me from the chapter on inerrancy - one of the last days before her illness - Harold McCormick". A New York Times newspaper clipping, dated May 26, 1923, was pinned to the half-title page of the book. [I removed the pin] The date of the article verifies this as a first edition, probably first printing, But the article is extremely interesting in its own right. Here's a portion of the text of the article: " KELLY AND MACREADY FLY BACK TO EL PASO --Army Aviators make 640-Mile Trip from San Diego in 7 hours and 55 minutes - Lieutenants Kelly and Macready , flying the T-2, arrived at the Fort Bliss Field .on the first leg of their return transcontinental flight from San Diego. Lieutenant C. L. Chennault of the Twelfth Observation Squadron left the field five minutes before the airplane came in sight from Fort Bliss and escorted the visiting plane to the landing field.". Both Lieutenants [Colin] Kelly and [Clair] Chennault are well known for their WW II exploits. Signed by Author(s).
