Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. This is really a beautiful book. The pages are in exceptional condition. I don't think I saw any soiling. There isn't any of this spotting or foxing that sometimes is seen with glossy or coated pages. There really aren't any imperfections I need to call out. There are no markings on any of the pages. No one has written their name or anything else on any of the pages. There are no creases on any of the pages. A 67-year-old book. I'd like to have its genes. Having nothing to do with appearance, I do want to note that there is a bit of old book smell. The covers look terrific. I've provided photographs. There is a light mark near the top edge of the front. Also a spot of darkening on the rear cover. Otherwise, as you can see, the covers are quite clean. The gilt lettering on the front and spine and the brown design on the front is quite bright. There is very little wear on the covers, a crease at the bottom of the spine. This book is very solidly bound, nothing loose, no spaces between the pages or the covers and the pages, no binding issues of any kind. The spine is slightly cocked forward. However, what makes this book special isn't the condition alone. The author, William Winthrop Kent, has signed a card/label that was attached to the coated or glossy second blank front free end paper (See photo). It is no longer attached but is in excellent condition, without any wear. It can easily be pasted back into place. There is no abrasion underneath. It still entirely smooth, but with the darkened rectangular shape of the card/label. Signed by Author(s).
