Boston, April 1823" First edition of Richard Henry Dana, Sr's, essay periodical, modeled in part on Irving's Sketchbook (which Dana references in his preface). Issued in 6 parts, and here bound-up in one volume, with the part titles removed. Dana contributed most of the content, including two short novellas and essays on various topics. William Cullent Bryant contributed poetry, his "Green River," "The West Wind," "The Burial Place" and others published here for the first time.
