Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. The sole printing published by The Gadsby Gallery, Leicester in 1973. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just two very tiny rubs to the front cover. Folio. The book was originally published in an edition of 450 copies with card covers. There were also 12 special numbered copies bound by Trevor Hickman at The Brewhouse Press with a morocco spine, gilt titling to the spine and decorated cloth boards. The contents also included extra material and some additional tipped in colour plates. This copy is one of the STANDARD 450 copies (without the additional material) but has been bound in a very similar design to one of the special copies. Having compared this binding to one of the special copies, I strongly suspect that Trevor Hickman at The Brewhouse Press bound this copy. The contents include a John Piper chronology, 117 colour monochrome and B/W illustrations and a 52 item catalogue. A very handsome exhibition catalogue. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
