Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1932. First edition limited to 165 copies, of which this is copy number 96. [i], 43pp., 8 black and white plates and drawings wihtin the text by Barbara Shaw. Ashley Gibson was a bookseller and author of books on Ceylon and Malaya. This is an illustrated catalogue of books on East India available from The Java Head Bookshop, Great Russell Street. Mostly concerning Ceylon but also Malay Peninsula, China, Africa & Voyages. There is a 3 page letter concerning the bookshop by H.M. Tomlinson at the start of the book. The book is bound in the original cream paper covered boards with black titling on the front board and a black cloth spine. The original paper title label on the spine is missing. The case of the book is in very good condition with light shelf wear on the boards. The contents are tight and clean and some of the pages remain unseparated along the top and/or fore edge. There is no inscription.
