The boards have some patches of brown staining at the tops of the front and rear panels with creasing in the same area - as if some rusty clip has perhaps been attached at some time? There are also some patches of lighter discolouration, heavy fading to the spine and rubbing to the corners. The binding is slack with tearing along the hinges at the rear endpapers and at the title page where the webbing is a little exposed. Previous owner's name in pencil to the front free endpapers and the pages are a little browned but are generally otherwise unmarked. No jacket. First printing.
